As part of our celebration, we will be creating a virtual selfie wall.
We are asking students across all year groups to take and upload an Earth Day themed photo that may have been taken previously or today.
Whether that's a selfie of you wearing some nature themed clothing, wearing a blue and green outfit, perhaps some nature photography, a photo of you planting some seeds, beach cleaning or even recycling!
The choice is yours, as long as it shows your connection to the earth !
Once you have your photo you can upload it to our Earth Day Photo submission form: https://forms.gle/eB7G4H4KVCRwgnk1A.
Submissions will be featured on the GV Green Matters website https://gvgreenmatters.weebly.com/ (this site) and some of the best will get posted up on the GV Green Matters Instagram:

Be sure to check out the updates on those platforms!

2. 🌴Mangrove Tree Fundraiser💰
The theme of Earth Day 2021 is Restore the Earth.
To restore the environment of our local area, our aim as a community is to plant 500 mangrove trees.
Did you know that mangrove trees absorb up to 4 x more carbon per hectare than other topical forests?
Each Mangrove tree costs 50 baht to purchase and plant.
We want each member of the school community to fund a tree in their name. Some of you may fund more than one.
How you can contribute:
• Sell an unwanted item on the GV Online Second Hand Shop.
Just take a photo and 'GV For Sale' Section of this site https://gvgreenmatters.weebly.com/gv-for-sale.html
• Do a chore (car washing, doing laundry, cooking a meal) to raise the funds.
You will be asked to put the amount that you raised, and the number of trees to be planted on a spreadsheet below:
bit.ly/3dC6Ys4
IMPORTANT: You should bring the money in to be collected by your Green Council rep on your return to school.
On the Earth Day Google Classroom, (code: 3wfj5bc), we will also be sending out links to activities, movies, documentaries and articles for those who want to get involved further.
Wishing you a happy Earth Day!
